![]() Advocates
CASA advocates are ordinary people, diverse in educational background, careers, and stages of life, doing extraordinary things. A few qualifications: v Must be 21 years of age v No criminal history v Be able to complete 30 hours of training v Have a desire to help abused and neglected children
CASA volunteers are also taught effective advocacy techniques, and learn about a variety of relevant topics, from adolescent behavior to signs of sexual abuse. To a child, having a volunteer working for them can make all the difference. Hundreds of children across the country have been moved when understanding the notion, “you don’t get paid to do this?” It shows to them the level of concern and commitment being made by the volunteer. No, it’s not part of their “job.” Volunteers are ordinary citizens, doing extraordinary work for children, and along the way bringing such passion, dedication, and effort to their work. What is a volunteer?
